This is the kind of durable crochet blanket I love. One you’d find hanging around a couch made by a prolific great aunt who has long since passed away.  The stitch pattern, sometimes called “Apache Tears,” is hypnotic and healing. It reads as lines of colors, interrupted by diagonal drip drops of texture, and evokes the bumpy passage of time.

In this beginner-friendly class, you will master crochet basics - how to make a foundation chain (ch) and single (sc) and double crochet (dc) stitches. Then you can launch your project with this stunning stitch pattern and make progress at your own pace.  The design is a bit of an optical illusion, but easy to remember, making it seamless to pick up and put down. Yup, it’s the perfect project to keep your hands busy while binging a series, podcast, or audio book. Since each row is worked in the same direction and then cut, you can use up solid-color remnants from your stash or purchase two or more colors to create your mood palette. Depending on your attention span and plans for winter, this pattern works up nicely as a cozy throw blanket or scarf. The size is customizable. Fringed edges mean no weaving in yarn ends!

Materials: Superwash worsted weight yarn in solid colors –– or a variegated yarn with long color changes such as Cloud by Lang (shown in pic)

Supplies needed: Two or multiple colors of worsted weight yarn (yardage varies depending on desired size), crochet hook US I (5mm), scissors or snippers.

You will receive 15% off all supplies purchased for this class.
