Join Chelsea to make a two-in-one dress perfect for transitioning weather! This reversible, pinafore style dress can be worn alone, under or over other coordinates like tees, jeans, or even other skirts and dresses for a fun layered look with pockets! The metamorphic dress is a beginner friendly pattern where you will learn to gather skirts and create a reversible bodice using the burrito method, a fun and useful skill in all kinds of apparel projects that will make you feel like a magician! Sizes 0-24.
Suggested Fabrics: Make it in linen, cotton, rayon, or sumptuous silk noil. Pick fabrics with the drape and weight you’d like when paired together. Mix and match prints or go for a monochromatic staple! When selecting your fabrics, ensure that the reverse of the fabric you choose for your longer skirt is how you’d like it to appear against your shorter skirt, as this will be what is visible with your peek-a-book layer in the front and back. Your shorter skirt will not be visible when you wear the dress with the long skirt out. Chelsea will be available to answer questions via email and can set up an in-person consultation ahead of the class. If that doesn’t work, the staff is very knowledgeable, kind, and happy to help.

*Please come to class with your fabric washed, dried, ironed, and cut out. Additionally, overlocking (or zigzagging) the top and side edges of your skirt pieces separately will allow you to maximize your time in class.

*If you need help choosing your pattern size or need assistance with cutting Chelsea is always happy to help and available to meet you at Home Ec. You are welcome to come into Home Ec  to cut out anytime except when there’s a class going on in the workshop. If you need assistance cutting out your pattern or would like to use our cutting tables, we are happy to help anytime there is not a class in the workshop.

Supplies Needed: Fabric and supplies per pattern, basic Sewing kit (Pins, scissors, seam ripper, thread and marking pen)

Cancellation Policy
Due to the limited enrollment of our classes, we do not offer refunds on classes but can offer a credit for a future class if you cancel within 72 hours of the start of class. If you register for a class and can’t come, you must call us 72 hours* in advance in order to get a credit for another class. Otherwise we are unable to offer refunds, credit or exchanges—you can, however, spread some joy and send a friend in your place.
