Need a quick but personal holiday gift? We’ve got you covered. Spend the afternoon making a set of coasters stitched with fabric that perfectly suits the lucky recipient of your gift…or make them for yourself. 

You can make your coasters round or square, sweet or sophisticated. Choose two fabrics or many—coasters can include up to five fabrics. 

Each coaster uses six 5 ¾” squares of fabric. Mix or match, as you choose. Quilting weight cottons work best. Cut your squares at home or in class. 

A good project for beginners, though you must know how to use your machine. 

Supplies needed: 

Fabric: Each coaster uses six 5 ¾” squares of fabric, so 6” by a 42” width of fabric will give you six or seven squares. Scraps work well, too, as long as they’re at least 5 ¾” square. You’ll need a minimum of two different fabrics but can use as many as six per coaster—one ends up inside the coaster and doesn’t show. 

Fusible fleece: One 5 ¼” square per coaster. 

Matching or contrasting thread for topstitching coasters. 

Clover clips are helpful but not required—easier to use than pins through multiple layers of fabric.

Basic sewing kit (Pins, scissors, seam ripper, thread, and marking pen)

Cancellation Policy

Due to the limited enrollment of our classes, we do not offer refunds on classes but can offer a credit for a future class if you cancel within 72 hours of the start of class. If you register for a class and can’t come, you must call us 72 hours* in advance in order to get a credit for another class. Otherwise we are unable to offer refunds, credit or exchanges—you can, however, spread some joy and send a friend in your place.
