Knitting: The Snuggle is Real Cowl

Get ready for cozy as we knit The Snuggle Is Real by Maxim Cyr!  This dreamy cowl is a fantastic introduction to mosaic colorwork, a rhythmic technique using only one strand per round that adds both texture and contrast, as well as skills like grafting and I-cord to take your knitting confidence to the next level.  Between its deliciously fluffy lining and handy drawstring, this cowl will keep you snug and warm all winter long!

Confidence in knitting, purling, and casting on/binding off is the only prerequisite. Techniques we will be exploring together: mosaic colorwork, adding holes (on purpose!) in the middle of your project, grafting, and making I-cord.

Our first session will focus on learning and getting in the rhythm of the main motif patterning together.  Please complete the first 2.5” of ribbing before the first class to maximize learning time in class.  If you need help with the cast on or have other questions before the first class, please visit Home Ec Workshop – we are always happy to help!

Supplies Needed

MC: 225y DK yarn (gray in photo)

CC1: 225y DK yarn (pink in photo)

CC2: 225y alpaca or other fluffy laceweight yarn held double (blue in photo) for cowl

For drawstring, pattern calls for an additional 115y CC2 lace yarn held 8x together, or you can use another yarn of your choice.

Size US 6 circular 24” needles for cowl, US 4 circular or double pointed needles for the drawstring, basic knitting kit (stitch markers, darning needle, snips, measuring tape).  You will receive your pattern via email--if you would like it to go into your Ravelry library, please let us know your Ravelry username when you sign up for the class.

Due to the limited enrollment of our classes, we do not offer refunds on classes but can offer a credit for a future class if you cancel within 72 hours of the start of class.   If you register for a class and can’t come, you must call us 72 hours* in advance in order to get a credit for another class.
