Want to knit a sweater that really fits? Want to have a say in the design and look of your garment? Tired of trying to match the gauge of a pattern? In this class we will use A. Karen Alke’s Top-Down Raglan Unpatterns to design and knit a sweater or vest. The Unpatterns provide a basic template and you add your own gauge and details to get the perfect garment! Each participant will choose the design elements to feature and will end up with a unique piece. We’ll support each other and learn new tips and techniques as we stitch along!
Class topics include: fit & swatching, decorative stitches, neckline & waist shaping, neck & buttonbands, cast-ons & cast-offs. Participants will plan and make choices about the fit / ease of their sweater (close-fitting, oversized or somewhere in between), and the design elements (scoop neck, v-neck, lace, cables, etc., etc!).
Appropriate for advanced beginners through advanced knitters alike!
Supplies Needed: yarn needed to complete garment, needles and basic knitting tools (stitch markers, snips, measuring tape, tapestry needle).
