Modern Quilt Block of the Month
|
with Stephanie Rose Monday, March 19, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. $15 + optional fabric kit sold separately.
Join us in making this simple and beginner level quilt block for our first Modern Block of the Month series. This month we will make the “Gee Whiz” block inspired by the free form blocks made by the Gee’s Bend Quilters. You will learn strip piecing, stack and slash techniques and get a refresher on rotary cutting.
Students must have a copy of Carefree Quilts by Joy Lily. Copies are available for purchase at Home Ec.
Participants are welcome to join in the Modern Quilt Block of the Month during any month. You do not need to have made any of the prior quilt blocks or commit to future classes.
Make it easy, buy a kit! Each month new kits will be available for purchase for $7-$15. This will provide you with enough fabric to make at least one or two blocks. Kits will be available each month in coordinating themes/fabrics/colors, so you can put all your blocks together for a cohesive quilt!
Participants need basic sewing skills for this series of classes, but you do not need to know how to sew a quilt. A familiarity with the 1/4″ seam allowance, use of the rotary cutter, and previous sewing machine experience are required. |
