Tea Time Project

2 to 4 pm

Sunday, July 11 & 18 (two-part class)

Adult and child working together

On the first day, learn how to make beautiful summer sunhats.  On the second day, make placemats and napkins, then have a tea party at Home Ec.! Students will need four fat quarters for the hat, two fat quarters for napkins (different patterns) and a 1/2 yard of two different fabrics for placemats.

Ages 5 and up with adult

Reversible Baby Pants and Booties

Learn to make two of the patterns from Handmade Beginnings by Anna Maria Horner.

Needle Felted Caterpillar and Butterfly

Learn the basics of needle felting and make a colorful caterpillar and butterfly- the perfect size for a pin or hair clip, or keep as little friends around the house.  Class price includes your choice of 4 colors of roving to use during class and take home with you; we will also have some additional colors available for class use.

Learn to take an image and create a silkscreen. Print an image that you bring on T-shirts, scarves, bags etc. We will have jersey T-shirts and scarves that you can purchase to print on, or bring your favorite tees from home!  Please bring a Xerox copy of a black and white high contrast image to class.

Two at a Time, Toe Up Socks

6 to 7 pm

Thursdays, July 15, 22, 29 (three-part class)

Learn to knit socks, toe up, two at a time using 2 circular needles or magic loop (40″ needle).
This is a very simplified approach, no Kitchners or even gussetts to pick up.
You will never be at a loss for the perfect knitted gift. You should know how to knit, purl, ssk, k2tog.  We’ll use worsted weight yarn and size 4-5 needles. (2 circular 24″  or 1- 40″)

Basic Double Knitting

Thursdays, July 15 & 22

Learn basic double knitting while making a headband or potholder.  Double knitting is making a two-sided fabric, producing both sides at the same time.  Students should already know how to cast on, knit and purl.

Tasty Crochet: Apple or Pear

Wednesdays, July 14 & 21 (two-part class)

Learn to crochet in the round, and make an apple or a pear from the Tasty Crochet book.  Filled with patterns for fun, easy-to-make food items, this book will soon have you hooked on creating a banquet the whole family can enjoy!  Safe, soft yarn makes for great toys to give as gifts or to entertain everyone at home.  One skein of Jil Eaton Minnow Merino yarn is included. Bring a size G or
H crochet hook.

Quilting for Beginners

10 am to 5 pm

Saturday, July 10

Using Valori Wells Flora pattern, participants will mostly finish the top of this beginner quilt during class.  Participants will learn to use a rotary cutter and mat, square up a quilt, and piece a quilt top.  Will also discuss basic quilting skills including ironing, fabric choice and reading a pattern.  No quilting experience required.  Please bring pattern and fabric to class.

Easy Layer Cake Quilt

2 to 6 pm

Friday, July 9

This class will be using Thimble Blossoms “Piece of Cake” pattern.  This fun, easy quilt will go together quickly.  Participants will learn to piece quilt blocks and create a quilt top with these blocks.  Participants will also learn to techniques to piecing the blocks together to create a balance of patterns and colors in the quilt top.  Participants will also learn to add borders to a quilt.  Rotary cutting and basic sewing skills are necessary for this class.  Please bring pattern and fabric to class.  A pre-cut layer cake can be used, or 15 fat quarters.
